  • High temperature resistant xanthan gum specifically designed for marine drilling and other high-temperature environments is a type of xanthan gum product. It is based on xanthan gum produced by fermentation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and has been specially modified and processed to possess excellent high-temperature resistance, which can meet the special needs of marine drilling operations under high temperature conditions.

    Usually white or light yellow powder, with uniform texture and no obvious impurities.

    Similar to regular xanthan gum, it is a "pentasaccharide repeating unit" polymer mainly composed of D-glucose, D-mannose, D-glucuronic acid, pyruvic acid, and acetic acid. However, the molecular structure and composition ratio may be specially adjusted to enhance high temperature resistance.

    It has outstanding thermal stability and can generally maintain good performance at temperatures of 150 ℃ or even higher. The viscosity and rheological properties of its solution change little in high temperature environments, and it can effectively resist the damage of high temperature to its molecular structure, ensuring that it can still play a stable role in thickening, suspension, and filtration reduction under high temperature environments in marine drilling.

    Performance advantages

    High viscosity retention: In the high-temperature seawater drilling fluid environment, it can maintain a high viscosity, effectively improve the sand carrying capacity of the drilling fluid, ensure that the rock debris can be carried to the surface in a timely manner during the drilling process, and prevent accidents such as drilling blockage caused by rock debris precipitation.

    Good rheological properties: It has unique pseudoplastic rheological characteristics. During the drilling process, when the drilling fluid is subjected to shear forces such as drill pipe rotation and pump pressure, the viscosity will rapidly decrease, which is conducive to the circulation and flow of the drilling fluid in the well and reduces pump pressure loss; And when the shear force is removed, the viscosity can quickly recover, ensuring the support of the drilling fluid on the wellbore and maintaining its stability.

    Salt resistance and resistance to calcium and magnesium ions: Due to the large amount of salt and electrolytes such as calcium and magnesium ions in the marine environment, the high-temperature resistant xanthan gum for sea drilling has good salt and calcium and magnesium ion resistance. It can still maintain stable performance in drilling fluids with high salinity and high calcium and magnesium ion concentration, and will not cause sedimentation or significant viscosity reduction due to the presence of electrolytes.

    Filter loss reduction performance: It can effectively reduce the filtration loss of drilling fluid, reduce the leakage of drilling fluid into the formation, protect the oil and gas reservoir, prevent the formation from being contaminated by drilling fluid, and improve oil and gas recovery.
