Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) is a new type of functional polymer material that can absorb hundreds or even thousands of times its own weight of water and firmly lock it in. Even under certain pressure, it is not easy to lose water and has ultra-high water absorption and retention capabilities. Therefore, it is often referred to as super absorbent or high water absorbing polymer.
Performance characteristics
High water absorption: This is the most significant characteristic of polymer water absorbing resins, with a water absorption rate that can reach hundreds or even thousands of times their own weight. For example, some high-performance polyacrylic acid salt water absorbing resins can achieve a water absorption rate of about 500-1000 times in deionized water.
Strong water retention: the gel shaped material formed after absorbing water has a strong water retention ability, and water is not easy to lose in natural environment. Even under certain pressure, such as soil pressure or human activity compression, most of the water can be retained and slowly released for use.
Rapid water absorption performance: Polymer water absorbing resin can quickly absorb a large amount of water in a short period of time, with a fast water absorption speed. It can reach a high water absorption saturation in minutes or even seconds, meeting the needs of different application scenarios for rapid water absorption.
Good stability: Under normal temperature and pressure, polymer water absorbent resin has good chemical and physical stability, and is not easily decomposed or deteriorated. It can be stored and used for a long time under different environmental conditions without significant changes in performance.
Processability: It has good processing performance and can be made into products of different shapes and specifications through various processing methods, such as powder, particle, sheet, film, etc., to meet the needs of different application fields.
